Making A Table Apron
9 Leaf 24' Crank Table---Apron badly cracked in many areas and will need to be replaced.
Bad repair work. Several attempts in the past to prevent the legs from breaking off. Numerous nails, screws and dowels.
Making a new table apron.
14 selected hardwood laminates are made. Each .283 thick.
Jig was constructed to glue each of the solid wood laminates together under pressure,
making them virtually isotropic (equally strong in all directions) and impervious to weather changes and warpage.
The new apron is now many times stronger than the original and nearly impossible to damage.
Apron now assembled on to a new top made from 1" thick mahogany.
